Thank you for your interest in mentoring with Hilma's Heart. Hilma's Heart Mentors provide mentorship to young men and women in middle school and high school. Mentors will meet with students during an after-school mentorship program on their school campus or during the summer at a designated campus. All of our services are free to participants.

Without volunteers this wouldn't be possible. We can all think of a time that we needed guidance with navigating life. Research and surveys prove that having a mentor is important to success & can change the trajectory of someone's life. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Hilma's Heart Community Mentorship project is to partner with mentors, schools, community organizations, homeless shelters, nonprofits, and our community to aid in impacting youth positively through mentorship.

Our Vision

To partner with Mentors dedicated to serving as a safe space for young men and women in grades: 6th - 12th. Access to positive people impacts the life of young adults, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges the youth encounter. Our hope is that Hilma's Heart Mentors will help be a part of the village they need to succeed.

Affidavit of Criminal History

*In order to volunteer in Baltimore Public Schools, prospective volunteers must disclose any history of criminal violations if they occurred after the employee or volunteer reached the age of 18 years old. Violations that occurred prior to the age of 18 years old must be disclosed if they are public information.

FINGERPRINTING

All volunteer candidates and persons with access to students are required to be fingerprinted for a criminal background check. (Hilma's Heart will cover the fees for your fingerprinting and criminal background check).
